BATV Internship Program
Billerica Access Television, Inc. (BATV) is a Public, Educational and Government access television facility incorporated in 1987. BATV’s modern 6,000 square foot facility is located in the center of Billerica, Massachusetts. Approximately twenty miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, Billerica is accessible by Route 3, 128, Interstate 93 and 495 and the commuter rail. The population of Billerica is approximately 40,000 of which over 12,500 households subscribe to cable service provided by Comcast and Verizon.
All Internships at Billerica Access Television must be for college credit. Interns will work closely with the organization’s staff, membership and the general public while gaining knowledge in the area of their interest. BATV offers internships on an ongoing basis in the following areas:
Marketing Intern:
Interns will be exposed to the day-to-day operations of a non-profit customer service organization as well as a media center. Interns will learn about access television, outreach and marketing for non-profits and social media.
Responsibilities: Write press releases, maintain and update social media and social networking avenues, assist in outreach, assist with content and creation of newsletter and other marketing materials. Create e-mail blasts and contact lists for upcoming events. Duties may be ongoing or project based and may vary by the time of year.
Technical/ Programming Intern:
Interns will learn the technical aspects of access television and will assist in Ingesting programming for the Public, Educational and Government Channels as well as assisting with Community Bulletin Board creation and scheduling. Interns will also have the opportunity to work along side staff to troubleshoot and maintain technical aspects of the Access Station.
Community Production Intern:
Interns will learn all facets of production at BATV including camera, editing and studio production.
Responsibilities include assisting volunteer members who are in need of crew for productions or community organizations seeking coverage of events. If no productions are in need of reverse mortgage assistance at the time of internship, interns will be responsible for creating a project in one of three areas:
The three independent project areas require you to be trained on the equipment. It is the responsibility of the intern to obtain cast and crew and be responsible for all aspects of production. Productions must be done during available studio time.

- Enrolled College Student
- Must be for College Credit
- Enjoy working with the public
- Be dependable, energetic and willing to learn.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
