BATV is a staple of the community, and one of the best means to communicate to the public. The resources devoted to provide relevant public discourse is the hallmark of a strong community. As Community Development Director for Billerica I see the immense value of BATV and would like the opportunity to serve on the Board assisting in continuing successes already achieved by offering my experiences and familiarity with Town operations and with the wide variety of residents and businesses I interact with regularly in the interest of maintaining a strong community.
I have a wide and varied economic development career focused of course on economic development, but also quality of life, at both a State and local level. I have worked for a statewide economic development group (MassEcon), was a regional director for the Massachusetts Office of Business Development, and now work at the local level. I hope my broad experience could be useful on the BATV Board on a variety of topics related to operations and place in the community. While a non-resident, I have embedded myself in the community as evidenced by activities such as serving as the Chair for Dementia Friendly Billerica and as a member of the Billerica Library Foundation.
One of the most important qualities for anyone working in municipal government is the ability to be friendly, outgoing and respectful of colleagues, residents and businesses working from what might sometimes be viewed as opposing positions. That is the personality and collaborative nature that I would bring to the BATV Board. I imagine that one role of the Board would be to take disparate plans and perspectives and work with the team and key stakeholders to turn these ideas into a cohesive, achievable, and sustainable strategy for the long term. I want to help!
