BATV Youth Programs are designed to introduce media and film aspects to young people. The world of media can be an extremely beneficial addition to a child's education, and is encouraged among many modern-day educators.
The weekly program is designed and curated for youth from fourth grade through college. Managed by Director of Educational Services Amber Krasinski, each day offers something different for each age group, in an atmosphere structured yet simultaneously adaptive. You'll meet Amber's cheerful Production and Youth Assistants Cas, Faith, Jamie, and Jake on your first day here, too!
Many students in town are first introduced to BATV through in-school training, demonstrations, using one of our general meeting spaces...or just from seeing our three channels on cable television! While much of the Programs' work involves collaboration with young people across a swath of different town wide projects, some of our most popular activities are video clubs!
Video clubs vary by age range, promoting self-reliance and expression through media. Most are scheduled once a week, in 75-minute slots, in which time is spent focused on one component of the digital arts (e.g., scriptwriting, improvisation, camera setup and composition, editing).
Students can join any age-appropriate video club at any point throughout the year. Each school year culminates with our grand Premiere, a group screening of our main projects, across all video clubs, for family and friends.
