Artist Statement:
My name is Tom Mungovan. I am an artist, writer, drummer, teacher, learner, entrepreneur, father and husband and am seemingly cloaked in virtual opaqueness. I can be at times a very complicated person. I use sarcastic humor as a deflector to ward off my own true self to anybody that may want to get close to me. I am a dreamer. I am stubborn. I am both selfish and selfless. I always fight for the underdog no matter the situation. I draw odd pictures that I want to be known for, but rarely show people. I impulsively and intuitively create artwork that makes some people wonder why I even bother to waste my time. I write countless poetry books and screenplays that are never seen. I have a knack for confusing people but also bringing them together. I am the founder of a non-profit organization community-based drum festival because there was a simply a need to create one. I hide from myself to protect myself from myself. I am funny. I am shy. I am outgoing. I am an artist. If you wish to know more, please ask. I welcome any conversations about my art. The Gallery at BATV continues to be a source of enjoyment for our members, visitors and those of us who work here. We’re pleased to provide first-time exhibitors a comfortable space to display their art, and always honored to have well-established artists willing to exhibit at the Gallery.
BATV offers the Gallery free of charge to artists. BATV affords artists the opportunity to exhibit their work, use a variety of media options available to promote the exhibit, host receptions and mail invitations or announcements at a discounted postage rate. Please plan to visit the Galley and support the art community. The Gallery is free and open to the public during BATV’s normal operating hours. For information about exhibiting your art work, please contact Karen Sennott at 978-663-2284. Archives
