Bob Mallock, our good neighbor and owner of Mangia Mangia Italian Kitchen is a runner; a marathon runner. The 2013 Boston Marathon was the fourth time Bob ran the Marathon and it will likely remain his most memorable. Bob had almost completed 26 miles of the 2013 Boston Marathon when chaos broke loose near the finish line. After hearing of the bombing and following an hour of confusion, Bob was reunited with his wife and daughter.
Two marathons later, Bob ran the 2015 Boston Marathon with team MR8 honoring Martin W. Richard, the 2013 Boston Marathon’s youngest victim. On June 4, 2015, Bob held a post-marathon fundraiser event at BATV for the Richard family and The Martin W. Richard Charitable Foundation, Inc. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization formed by the parents of eight-year-old Martin Richard, who was killed in the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15, 2013.
Event planners Meghan O’Donnell and Ashley Shultz, owners of Beautifully I Do, worked closely with Bob to coordinate the event. Attendees enjoyed food and beverages provided by Mangia Mangia Italian Kitchen and were given opportunities to engage in a silent auction and raffles. Joining Mallock to raise funds for the Foundation were celebrities WHDH Reporter Steve Cooper, Boston Marathon Race Director David McGillivray and Miss Massachusetts Polikseni Manxhari.
We highly praise and support our good neighbor Bob Mallock for his heartfelt and philanthropic actions for the Martin W. Richard Charitable Foundation honoring Martin’s message and the Foundation’s mission of “No more hurting people. Peace” by investing in education, athletics and community. Martin Richard’s “view of peace went well beyond simply wanting to prevent violence. To Martin, peace meant things like togetherness, teamwork, fairness, sportsmanship, inclusion, and simple acts of kindness.” Bob Mallock’s recent actions certainly exemplify Martin’s view.
